Concussion in Judo with Gary Turner
Gary Turner is a former professional Kickboxer and MMA fighter with a host of world titles to his name, after i spend the first couple of minutes fanboying about his MMA career with talk about concussion and the devastating and tragic impact it can have, as well as some of the things we can do to mitigate the risks. Gray is currently studying a PhD on the behavioural effects of head impacts in combat sport, talks really eloquently on a subject that he clearly has a wealth of knowledge about, and we touch on issues, including suicide, that are still very fresh and painful for many in the judo community with the tragic deaths in the last year of Craig Fallon and Jack Hatton. Gary can be contacted with questions on gary@garyturner.co.uk. If youwant to hear Gary talk more on the subject he has done a couple of great episodes on the British Boxing talk poodcast which can be found at-
